Airtable or not Airtable
I am thinking about using Airtable or not. And what may be the alternative?
Cons
- Data protection concerns (GDPR)
Airtable stores data on U.S. servers. This can pose legal challenges when handling personal data from the EU, especially without standard contractual clauses or adequate safeguards.
Cost
- Free plan is limited; key features like advanced automations and permissions require paid plans.
Not ideal for complex logic
Not a replacement for robust relational databases like PostgreSQL.
- Performance limits
Slower performance with large datasets (e.g., 50,000+ records).
Cloud-only
- No self-hosting option; data is stored on Airtable servers.
- Limited versioning
Changes can be hard to trace or undo.
