🌍 Swear Spotlight: Ancient Greek Donkey Insult 🐴💩
Not all swears are “fuck” and “shit.” Some cultures went wildly creative.
Following our previous post on donkey insults from ancient Egypt, let’s take a look at parallel cross-cultural evolution of donkey insults.
In Ancient Greece, one of the nastiest things you could call someone was basically:
👉 “Son of a donkey’s shit-eater.”
Yeah. Imagine saying that across the agora. Brutal, specific, and humiliating.
What’s cool is it shows how swears are snapshots of culture: in a world where donkeys were everywhere, this hit way harder than “piece of shit” does today.
