Okay so… I gotta tell y’all about this one — mostly because I don’t wanna tell y’all about it. It’s embarrassing 😭
But hey, sometimes a little embarrassment is the price of growth!!!
So I was in my first year of community college, right?
I’m on this crowded elevator, packed shoulder to shoulder, and I say out loud:
“Man, this feels like Japan!”
Then some girl goes,
“Well not all of us have been to Japan, Zephyr.”
And let me tell you… I felt like two inches tall.
In that moment, something clicked.
I was like — “Damn. Who am I to flex my experiences when everyone here has their own story, their own skills, their own path I could probably learn something from?”
That elevator ride lowkey shifted my whole view on social dynamics.
Instead of trying to make yourself look cool all the time, what if you just made other people feel cool instead?
You’d be shocked how good it makes you feel too.
So now, anytime I get the chance, I try to make the person I’m talking to feel hyped, seen, and super competent!
And honestly… people seem to root for me more because of it. It’s a mad cool feeling to carry around 😎
If you’re looking for one little change to make socially — try making other people feel cool as hell.
It’s fun!!!!!!!
