AI Replaced Me. It’s Getting Real Out Here.
I been away from group bc I got fired two weeks ago from my Target store manager position. They said they’re restructuring. They warned us in the district meeting we had a month ago that AI was changing our company. I remember coming to this group sharing that my District Manager asked me to speak on AI when he found out I was learning about it. He gave me props on the presentation and made me feel like I could grow in the company and maybe be one of the early AI trainers for Target. A week later they fired me.
But they waited until the end of my shift and told me a lot of my duties like store budget, scheduling shifts, performance evals was going to be automated. It came down to me and another manager, and they let me go. You know the other manager is a man and has a different skin color than me. I knew AI was coming, but didn’t know it would happen so fast. Then I log on today and see that’s the post for today. SUPANOVAS AI knows what they talking about. It’s happening everywhere. In like 6 months people everywhere gonna start feeling it.
Thank God for my husband, who holds me down, and I have savings. But my son is in middle school and he eats so much. He plays sports and needs new uniforms. I’m in college too, and Target was covering part of my tuition. So I might have to put off my classes next semester. It’s scary and my feelings is hurt. I put almost 10 years at the company. I worked my way up from a cashier to fitting room supervisor to store manager. They had me working until 11PM some nights when I had a small kid at home and they knew my husband was on the road as a trucker. They had me give up my holidays and even had me come in when I was sick. So it hurts they just threw me away. My employees liked me and so did the customers. That means nothing to Target execs.
But I won’t let this defeat me yall. I’ll never let somebody look me in my face and tell me I’m being let go. On this AI 100% now. Let’s get it ladies.
