“See a need, fill a need!” – Bigweld, Robots (2005)
Yes, I’m quoting a kids’ movie, but it’s a line that has always stuck with me. It’s also what motivated me to start my first sewing business almost ten years ago. For years I have been filling a need in my community, but recently I began to feel the pull toward something more.
That “something” came from my niece and nephew. Both of them wanted to learn how to sew. Like any good aunt, I said yes, but I quickly realized I wasn’t prepared. I didn’t have any kid-friendly projects ready, so I turned to Google. What I found was disappointing—mostly felt crafts, stuffed animals, or projects that didn’t appeal to them. We managed to piece together a few ideas that day, and even though the projects weren’t exactly what they hoped for, their excitement and pride were undeniable.
That experience opened my eyes. There are very few practical, fun sewing projects designed for kids, especially boys. My nephew, for example, is an outdoors-loving, rough-and-tumble kid. He wants to make things he can actually use, not something that ends up in the trash. That moment was the spark. It pushed me to create something new.
So here we are. I’m rebranding to build a space where all kids—boys, girls, and anyone who wants to learn—can discover sewing. I’m developing patterns, subscription box options, and project kits made with quality cotton fabrics. These projects are designed to be fun, practical, and something kids will use with pride long after they finish them.
Warrior Angel Creations will always be my original brand, the one that gave me purpose when I needed it most. But now, it’s time to grow. It’s time to create a community where kids can grow too, one stitch at a time. Now it's time to introduce yourself!! Are you new to sewing? Do you have kids in your life that want to learn how to sew? How best can I serve you? I truly look forward to getting to know you and having sew much fun while doing so!!!! ~ Sue💜
