Well into my content journey I was dabbling with Batch Recording. For those unfamiliar Batch Recording is when you record multiple videos in a single setting or session, can be in a day or over a set of consecutive days. I was doing this to crank out a series on StreamYard that I wanted on my channel.
No team at this point just myself, Ecamm Live, and a ton of automation. I recorded 4 videos back to back to back in the space of an hour. I was super pumped and proud of myself. When I finished the 4th video I took a break and even went to get something to eat as a reward for getting it done. Some of you know and others might be learning, when you set a date, do the prep work to script intros, outros, and outline the videos. Get the haircut, ensure the studio is set, have your changes of on brand t-shirts, block the time on the calendar, and get the entire family on-board that this time is untouchable.... And then actually execute! This is MAJOR
I came back from my reward meal, came back into my home studio, started prepping to record some more videos. I went to test something on the rodecaster pro and couldnt hear it which was odd. I adjusted the audio then even tapped my mic but nothing was registering. Turns out an incorrect setting was enabled that muted the speakers. I was about to do something else when it hit me... Was that setting there for the first 4 videos? Opened up the folder where the videos are saved and check all 4 of them and not one had any audio.
After a brief walk around the block to clear my frustration, I came back to the studio, added a spot check to my workflow before and after every video recording, and then re-recorded those 4 videos and completed the series. It happens to the best of us but it's not a reason to give up, throw in the towel, or walk away. Growth happens when we face the worst scenario possible AND decide to keep moving forward. Hope this encourages someone in their Youtube / Content journey. Grace and Peace Fam.
PS. The second recording was actually better than the first!
