Wellness Wednesday
Let Yourself Be Surprised by God
“God is able to do much more than we could ever ask him for, or even think about. He does this by his power that is working in us.” Ephesians 3:20 (EASY)
Family,
Can I encourage you today?
I think one of the healthiest things we can do is remain WEopen to being pleasantly surprised by God.
Because life has a way of making us think we’ve already seen our best days.
We’ve experienced certain joys.
We’ve reached certain milestones.
We’ve had certain relationships.
We’ve lived through certain seasons.
And without realizing it, we quietly put limitations on our future.
We stop expecting.
We stop anticipating.
We stop imagining.
But Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that our God is not limited by our imagination.
He is able to do much more than we could ever ask for or even think about.
Whew.
That means there are experiences you have not experienced yet.
Prayers you haven’t seen answered yet.
Opportunities you haven’t encountered yet.
Relationships you haven’t built yet.
Peace you haven’t felt yet.
Laughter you haven’t laughed yet.
Memories you haven’t created yet.
Places you haven’t been yet.
Versions of yourself you haven’t met yet.
Family, there is still life ahead of you.
There is still joy ahead of you.
There is still goodness ahead of you.
God is not finished being good to you.
He’s not finished opening doors.
He’s not finished restoring.
He’s not finished healing.
He’s not finished providing.
He’s not finished exceeding your expectations.
Sometimes we become so familiar with our current chapter that we forget God is still writing the story.
And because He is still writing, there are pages we haven’t read.
There are blessings we haven’t seen.
There are prayers we haven’t watched unfold.
There are miracles that haven’t arrived.
There are moments that will make us laugh, cry, celebrate, and stand in awe of His goodness.
Family, one of the most beautiful ways to live is with holy anticipation.
To wake up and think:
I wonder what good thing God has for me today.
I wonder what unexpected blessing may be around the corner.
I wonder how God might exceed my expectations.
Not because life is perfect.
But because God is still God.
And perhaps Wellness Wednesday is simply an invitation to become available to joy again.
Available to possibilities again.
Available to wonder again.
Available to hope again.
Because we serve a God who delights in doing exceedingly, abundantly above all we could ask or imagine.
So fam..
Lift your head.
Smile again.
Dream again.
Expect again.
Pray boldly again.
Plan again.
Believe again.
Because your story is still unfolding.
And who knows?
Your next answered prayer, your next opportunity, your next testimony, your next season of joy, your next divine connection, or your next unexpected blessing may be much closer than you think.
Let yourself be surprised by God.
Because He still knows how to exceed expectations.
Ask Yourself
1️⃣ Have I unconsciously decided that my best days are behind me?
2️⃣ What good thing have I stopped expecting because it has taken longer than I thought?
3️⃣ Have I become more committed to protecting myself from disappointment than remaining open to possibility?
4️⃣ Where have I quietly settled because I no longer believe anything different could happen?
5️⃣ If I truly believed God had more ahead of me than behind me, what would I start doing differently?
6️⃣ Have I mistaken my current chapter for my final chapter?
7️⃣ What areas of my life have I stopped praying boldly about?
8️⃣ Am I still leaving room in my life to be amazed by God?
9️⃣ Have I become so familiar with my reality that I can no longer envision God exceeding it?
🔟 What would change if I woke up every day believing that God still had beautiful surprises with my name on them?
Keys to Letting Yourself Be Surprised by God
1️⃣ Do not allow your current season to become the ceiling of your expectation.
God’s ability is not confined to your present reality.
2️⃣ Protect your sense of wonder.
Expectation keeps the heart open to possibilities that logic cannot yet explain.
3️⃣ God is not limited by your imagination.
He can create opportunities, answers, and outcomes that have never crossed your mind.
4️⃣ Refuse to write conclusions that God has not written.
A delay is not the end of the story, and a closed door is not the end of God’s goodness.
5️⃣ Leave room for divine interruptions.
Some of God’s greatest blessings arrive unexpectedly and completely change the trajectory of our lives.
6️⃣ Live with holy anticipation.
Faith is not merely believing that God can; it is living with the expectation that He still moves, still surprises, and still exceeds expectations.
7️⃣ Keep your heart available to joy.
The ability to be surprised by God often begins with believing that there is still goodness ahead of you.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You are still working, still moving, and still writing our stories. Forgive us for every place where disappointment caused us to lower our expectations.
Restore our hope, renew our faith, and help us remain open to Your goodness and possibilities. Give us eyes to see beyond our current circumstances and hearts that expect You to do more than we could ask, think, or imagine.
Father, keep us hopeful, expectant, and available to be surprised by You.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
Decree & Declare
1️⃣ I decree and declare that I will not allow my current season to limit my expectation of what God can do.
2️⃣ I decree and declare that my heart remains open to the goodness, favor, and unexpected blessings of God.
3️⃣ I decree and declare that I release limitation, unbelief, and every mindset that says my best days are behind me.
4️⃣ I decree and declare that God is still writing my story, and this chapter is not my conclusion.
5️⃣ I decree and declare that I have hope for the future and confidence that God is working on my behalf.
6️⃣ I decree and declare that my expectation is increasing and my ability to dream, hope, and believe is being restored.
7️⃣ I decree and declare that I will no longer allow disappointment to rob me of anticipation and wonder.
