Live Your Life & Enjoy Your Now
“I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.”
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 KJV
Family,
Can I be honest?
Some of us have become so busy surviving that we have forgotten what it feels like to truly live!
We have become so consumed with responsibilities, obligations, bills, caregiving, healing, praying, working, waiting, and pushing through that somewhere along the way, joy slipped quietly into the background.
We keep telling ourselves:
“I’ll enjoy life when…”
I’ll enjoy life when the money comes.
I’ll enjoy life when I lose the weight.
I’ll enjoy life when the kids are grown.
I’ll enjoy life when I get married.
I’ll enjoy life when I buy the house.
I’ll enjoy life when I retire.
I’ll enjoy life when things calm down.
But what if things never completely calm down?
What if there is always another bill?
Another responsibility?
Another challenge?
Another prayer request?
Another goal?
Will you spend your whole life standing at the doorway of joy, waiting for a future that never arrives, while the gift of today passes you by?
Hear me, stop postponing joy!
Some of us are holding our happiness hostage to the next season while overlooking the blessings God has placed in this one!
You don’t need a vacation in Bali to enjoy your life now!
You don’t need six figures in the bank to enjoy your life now!
You don’t need a relationship to enjoy your life now!
You don’t need everything to be perfect to enjoy your life now!
There are so many people with money who are miserable.
People in relationships who are miserable.
People living in dream homes who are miserable.
Joy is not waiting at some distant destination.
Joy is often found in the ordinary moments we rush past every day.
This week while I was sitting in the garden, I watched a bird swoop down, grab a worm, and fly away.
The bird wasn’t stressed.
The bird wasn’t worried about next week.
The bird wasn’t wondering if God would provide tomorrow.
The bird simply received what God had provided today and enjoyed it.
And the Holy Spirit immediately spoke to me.
Some of us are so focused on the next blessing that they never savor the current one.
We spend so much time asking God for what is next that they rarely pause to thank Him for what is now.
Family, life is happening right now!
Not next year!
Not after the breakthrough!
Not after the promotion!
Not after the healing!
Not after retirement!
Right now!!!
The enemy would love for you to spend your entire life chasing tomorrow while missing the sacred beauty of today!!!
But God wants you to recognize the goodness that still exists in this season.
There is still something to laugh about.
There is still something to celebrate.
There is still something to enjoy.
There is still something to be grateful for.
And for some of us, enjoying your now may require you to reconnect with yourself.
What do you enjoy?
What makes you smile?
What makes you laugh?
What brings you peace?
What hobby have you always wanted to try?
What have you stopped doing because life got busy?
Some of you need a hobby!
And no, praying is not a hobby.
Church is not a hobby.
Working is not a hobby.
Taking care of everybody else is not a hobby.
Some of you need to plant flowers.
Take a dance class.
Learn how to paint.
Start gardening.
Join a walking group.
Take a cooking class.
Travel somewhere new.
Read a book for fun.
Do something that awakens joy in your heart again.
God did not create you just to survive from one crisis to the next.
He created you to live.
He created you to laugh.
He created you to experience joy.
He created you to enjoy the life He has given you.
So please, stop postponing joy.
Stop waiting for the perfect season.
Stop waiting for everything to line up.
Stop waiting for permission.
Enjoy your now!
Because this moment, this season, this chapter of your life..
it will never come again.
One day, what feels ordinary today will become a memory.
Don’t miss the beauty of the present because you were waiting for a better future.
There is still beauty here.
There is still goodness here.
And if you slow down long enough to see it, you may discover that the life you’ve been waiting for is already unfolding right in front of you.
Ask Yourself
1️⃣ Have I been postponing joy until a future season instead of embracing the blessings in my current one?
2️⃣ What am I waiting on before I give myself permission to fully live?
3️⃣ When was the last time I did something simply because it brought me joy?
4️⃣ Have I become so focused on responsibilities that I have neglected the things that make me feel alive?
5️⃣ What blessings in my life have become so familiar that I no longer appreciate them?
6️⃣ What hobby, interest, or activity have I abandoned that once brought me happiness?
7️⃣ What is one thing I can do this week to intentionally enjoy the life God has given me?
Keys to Living Your Life & Enjoying Your Now
1️⃣ Stop postponing joy.
Do not wait for the next season to enjoy the life God has given you today.
2️⃣ Learn to recognize today’s blessings.
What you continually overlook, you eventually stop appreciating.
3️⃣ Give yourself permission to live.
You do not need a breakthrough, a relationship, more money, or perfect circumstances to experience joy.
4️⃣ Be present where you are.
Many people miss today’s beauty because they are consumed with tomorrow’s worries.
5️⃣ Create room for joy.
If you do not intentionally make space for joy, responsibilities will consume every available moment.
6️⃣ Reconnect with the things that bring life to your soul.
Hobbies, laughter, creativity, nature, learning, and meaningful experiences are not distractions from life..they are part of life.
7️⃣ Enjoying life is not selfish.
God never intended for you to spend your entire life carrying burdens without experiencing His goodness.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of life.
Thank You for every blessing, every lesson, every opportunity, and every moment that You have given us.
Father, forgive us for the times we have become so focused on tomorrow that we have failed to appreciate today. Forgive us for postponing joy, delaying peace, and waiting for a future season before allowing ourselves to fully live.
Help us to recognize the beauty, the blessings, and the goodness that already exist in our lives.
Teach us to be present.
Teach us to be grateful.
Teach us to enjoy the life You have entrusted to us.
Father, restore laughter where life has become heavy.
Restore joy where burdens have become overwhelming.
Restore excitement where disappointment has stolen expectation.
Help us to make room for the things that refresh our souls and bring us closer to the abundant life You promised.
May we never become so busy surviving that we forget how to live.
May we never become so focused on what is missing that we overlook what You have already provided.
And may we have the wisdom to embrace this season, this moment, and this chapter of our lives as the gift that it is.
We thank You for today.
We thank You for this season.
And we thank You for the joy that is available to us right now.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
