Business Diaries: Building Systems That Fit My Brain
So this week’s been an interesting one for me in business.
Now that I’ve got my ADHD diagnosis, I’m starting to really look at how it’s been shaping the way I work, not just personally, but professionally too.
I’ve realised that I’ve been playing lip service to it for a while. I’d say things like “I probably have ADHD” and then keep pushing as if I didn’t. But now that it’s confirmed, I’m asking new questions:
How can I build systems that work for my brain?
How can I follow through on my business ideas without losing focus halfway through?
Because I’m great at starting things. I love that creative spark.
But follow-through? That’s where it gets tricky.
So instead of trying to “fix” that part of me, I’m starting to explore how I can work with it.
How can I design my business in a way that lets me expand, add new ideas, and stay excited, without constantly rebuilding from scratch?
It feels like a shift from self-blame to self-design.
I’m realising that when my body and nervous system are calm, my mind naturally finds order. It’s why I teach nervous system regulation, because for me, body first always works better than mind first.
This new season in business feels like it’s about acceptance and architecture, finding ways to make my unique rhythm work for me rather than against me.
It’s scary, but also kind of freeing. Because maybe the goal isn’t to become more consistent.Maybe it’s to create systems that make inconsistency okay.
✨ If the brain won’t fit the plan, maybe it’s time to change the plan.
What about you? Have you ever had to redesign your business or workflow to suit who you really are — not who you think you “should” be?
