Welcome to our Paranormal Adventure...
Greetings, everyone!
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for being a part of this incredible Skool community! This has been on my to-do list for quite a while, and I'm excited to finally dive in.
Having been a part of or ran two paranormal investigation teams in the past, the latest a professional one, I recognize that there may be some folks here with even more experience than me. And that's perfectly okay! I’m here to learn as much as I am to share. To give you a bit of background, I was with "The New England Haunted Society" in White River Junction, Vermont, back in 1987. I spent 9 months there, during which we had a few investigations that were run… let's just say, not the best. Safety was often overlooked, both physically and spiritually. One of the investigators even appeared to become possessed! We were young and impressionable, and none of us really knew what we were doing.
Back then, we had no idea about evidence maintenance. Our audio was poor and recorded on cassette tapes, while our photos were filled with orbs that have since been debunked. Good times, right? No cell phones, the internet was just a baby, so of course, no website either. But you know what? I learned valuable lessons about what NOT to do.
Over the years, I ventured out on my own, diving into historical research during my spare time. I’ve gathered a wealth of knowledge from reading greats like Ed and Lorraine Warren, John Zaffis, Jeff Belanger, and Karla Turner (shoutout for her UFO expertise!). These resources really put my past in perspective. These days Dr. Steven Greer is enlightening me on all things UFO, great mind!
Fast forward to 2007: after getting married and starting a family, I decided to take paranormal investigation seriously. I aimed to build a group focusing on three core principles: Scientific Basis, Credibility, and Spirituality. Without diving too deep (that's what the Pro Investigator Boot Camp is for!), the science part revolves around Occam's Razor (Look it up) and strict evidence Chain of Custody. By rigorously adhering to these, we ensure our credibility.
Spirituality is personal, and we encourage each of you to integrate our teachings with your beliefs. We’re not here to dictate your views, come to the Boot Camp (completely optional) to see what I mean!
My previous group saw a lot of success until, as often happens, ego crept in. I invited a member who was a professional in video production, and he led the group down a path "Like a piped piper" that focused more on fame than integrity. I let the excitement get to me, what a learning experience! I still own the original name: Research and Investigation of the Paranormal. When I let the LLC lapse, a Texas team snatched up our name. That's okay though, it was a great name, I think they are not active at the moment. That's why I came up with SDU. Catchy I think.
We had great experiences, like gathering evidence at the Miamont Castle in Manitou Springs and investigating the St. Nicholas Hotel in Cripple Creek, where we captured the only Class A footage of a ghost tossing headphones off a bed. That made it on Channel 13 news here in Colorado Springs!
With all that experience, I decided to come back to Skool, where I can more easily control the direction of our group. Part of the membership dues will go towards future events and supporting members who want to participate in haunted attractions, seminars, and trade shows. When we grow enough, we can even open up events via Starlink for remote participation. I’ve had this idea since 2008, but we never got there, sigh "That Damn Piped Piper!” But really, I’m over it; it was a long time ago.
Exciting and wonderful things are on the horizon! Once certain members prove their commitment to our vision, I’ll be inviting some to take on admin roles to help manage various areas. This will be outlined in the forthcoming group manual and boot camp materials. Interested in being an admin? DM me, and let's chat!
Now, regarding the EVP and Video courses: I plan to ask all our "Ghost Hunters" (That's you) and paranormal groups to submit their evidence, which we will compensate. I can only classify it as a "U" class anecdotal due to the lack of verified Chain of Custody. By charging entry fees, I can offer $10 per EVP and $20 per video submission. This helps cover the costs of their equipment and the time it takes to review clips, their contributions deserve recognition! If my software detects any fakes or it's poor-quality work, rest assured it won’t get posted nor will they be paid, so no worries there. It's meant to entertain and spark discussion and healthy debate.
As a quick note: this is a "for-profit" LLC, hence the fees, but I’ll provide a transparent annual report detailing every dollar spent (including my laughably low salary, just kidding, I truly have no idea how this will pan out!). It’s a risky venture, but hey, you only live once, right? Right???
Quick note about the two courses we will offer. They both are in production as we speak, it might be 2-3 weeks before they are fully edited and ready. They are not going to be the average courses for what I am spending on them, hence the prices. They will be well worth it. You will be very happy with the goodies that come with them both. Right now they are set to be $325 for the full boot camp version with the 8 modules and a pass for the conference/training investigation we will set up for those who can attend. The mini-camp will be a very basic course, but lots of fun. It will be $40 with 3 modules. Great for the playful enthusiast.
That’s it for now! I know there isn't much here yet, but it’s going to grow. I have unwavering faith in the paranormal community. Let’s engage, answer member questions, and start talking about the greatness that lies ahead!
Oh, and about profit sharing, I’m still finalizing the details, but if it makes sense to offer it for your investments in haunted attractions and events, I’ll put together something legally sound that is worth it for you.
Talk soon!
