Types of Hooks
Game Hooks are often mechanical or design based in nature. A Hook usually takes an instant to grab you, but sometimes with game play hooks it can take some play time to "get it". This is where a demo can come in handy, but lets look at types of hooks in our first course "hooks 101" where we will go into types of hooks like:
Gameplay Mechanics: This is a unique aspect of your game in gameplay design or with a twist on a mechanic in your game. example in session.
Visuals: Have a striking aesthetic and art style that is so good you can't help but check it out.
Narrative: Tell a compelling story, trailers should be able to showcase this. If this is your main hook it should be obvious right away. Don't tease epic gameplay or action if you're making a visual novel.
Hooks 101 coming soon 🙂
