Latest Phising Scam
You’ll get a DM on LinkedIn from a legit connection saying, “I have a friend who would be a good connection for you. They are this and that, yada, yada, yada. Can I get your phone number so they can give you a call?”
Fell for it the first time, responded to their text with my calendar link for a 25-minute Zoom chat, and they wrote back, “I cannot get to know you over Zoom and in just 25 minutes.
No Zoom probably because they claim to be a woman and are undoubtedly a “Yahoo Boy” (Google it), and don’t want me to see their face.
I replied, “Time is money, 25 minutes is all you’re going to get.” They replied, “You can’t talk to me like that ‘Mr. Frank’ (mister and my first name always a dead giveaway that screams third world).”
I said, “You’re right, blocked and reported.” I reached out to my legit connection, DM’d her a screenshot of “…can they have your phone number…” message, and suggested she change her password. She replied, “Thanks, I will, didn’t send you that DM.”
