Family! So many of yāall have asked about what I do for oral careāespecially when there's inflammation, pain, or infection in the gums or teeth. So Iām breaking it down into two regimens: one for healing (active infection) and one for maintaining a healthy mouth.
Remember: your mouth is the gateway to your gut, brain, and bloodstream. Letās treat it like sacred ground.
š Regimen for Active Infection
(Think: any inflammation, gum pain, tooth sensitivity, bleeding gums, etc.)
- Oil Pulling (3x/day or minimum twice daily)After each mealāor at the very least before your morning brush and after your nighttime brushāI oil pull using coconut oil (you can also use sesame or castor oil). This ancient Ayurvedic practice helps draw out bacteria, reduce inflammation, and support gum regeneration.ā Skip this step if you have mercury fillingsāoil pulling can cause those toxins to leach.
- Ditch Fluoride ToothpasteIf you havenāt already, eliminate fluoridated toothpaste ASAP. Fluoride can calcify your pineal gland and may contribute to other imbalances. I use a mineral tooth powder to help remineralize my teeth naturallyāthis is key when dealing with cavities or enamel erosion.
- Eat Nutrient-Dense Foods + Drink Mineral-Rich WaterHealing starts from the inside. I focus on foods rich in fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K2), trace minerals, and hydrating with spring or structured water (juice from fruits) loaded with minerals. This supports remineralization and overall oral immunity.
- Avoid Processed Foods & Artificial SugarsThese are straight-up enemies of healing. Not only do they feed harmful oral bacteria, but they also weaken the immune system. Your food is your bodyās building materialāchoose wisely.
- Salt Water Rinse (2x/day or more)I use warm water mixed with high-quality sea salt or pink Himalayan salt. Salt water is a natural antiseptic and helps reduce swelling, draw out infection, and create an alkaline environment in the mouth.
- Floss + Tongue Scrape DailyFlossing clears debris and plaque between teeth, while tongue scraping removes bacteria buildup from your tongue (which can be a major source of bad breath and bacterial overload).
⨠Regimen for Healthy Maintenance
Once the mouth is happy and inflammation-free, hereās what I stick to daily:
- Oil Pulling (once in the morning before brushing)On maintenance mode, one oil pull session a day is enough to keep things clean and vibrant.
- Brush with Mineral Tooth Powder (2x/day)I still skip the fluoride. Remineralizing the enamel isnāt a āonce itās fixed, Iām doneā thingāitās a lifestyle. I brush twice daily, gently and thoroughly.
- Floss + Tongue Scrape (Daily)Still a non-negotiable. Keeps the bacterial load low and supports fresh breath.
- Salt Water Rinse (a few times a week)Especially after high-acid meals or snacks, or just as a gentle detox. You donāt need it daily in maintenance mode unless you love it (like I do!).
- Stay Mineral-Rich & Sugar-LightI continue drinking mineral-rich water, eating whole, vibrant foods, and minimizing processed foods. What we eat literally builds our teeth and tissue.
This routine has saved me from dental nightmares and keeps my mouth healthy without harsh chemicals or toxic products. And yesāit takes a little more effort, but itās so worth it. Your mouth should be a healing space.
