The instrument I’m playing here is called a Flow Chime.
Flow Chimes are designed to create soft, cascading tones that are deeply calming to the body and mind. Unlike louder percussion instruments, their sound is gentle and fluid, which is why they are often used in sound healing, meditation, mindfulness practices, yoga, and nervous system regulation work.
The tones and vibrations can help encourage the nervous system to shift out of stress mode (fight or flight) and into a more relaxed state known as rest and restore. This can support:
• relaxation and stress relief
• slowing busy thoughts
• grounding and presence
• emotional release
• deeper meditation
• improved sense of calm and safety in the body
Many people notice that the sound feels almost like a “wave” moving through them. The flowing tones can help quiet the mind and create space for stillness, which is one of the reasons I love using them in my sound baths and circles.
Sound works not only through what we hear, but also through vibration. Our bodies respond to rhythm, tone, and frequency in ways that can feel soothing, regulating, and restorative.
The Flow Chime is one of those instruments that seems to invite the whole body to soften. 💛
