I used to feel gross about marketing myself.
Like, slimy-used-car-salesman gross.Even though I believed in what I was offering, I’d second guess every post, overthink every word, and sometimes just disappear altogether.
Maybe you’ve felt that too? That “who am I to promote this?” voice sneaks in and whispers all kinds of imposter nonsense.
One day, I was venting to a friend about this…Told him I hated the whole “look at me” vibe that comes with self-promotion.
He leaned back, smiled, and said:
“You know Jesus marketed Himself, right?”
Now hold up. That caught me off guard.
But the more we unpacked it, the more it made sense. Jesus shared stories, served people, healed in public, and invited others to follow Him.
He didn’t shrink back from His calling, He walked in it boldly, for the sake of others.
And maybe that’s the piece we’re missing…
When you shift your focus from self-promotion to serving, it all changes.
It’s not about spotlighting YOU, it’s about shining a light through you.
I found this short video that absolutely nailed that perspective. If you’ve ever felt weird about marketing, or wondered if it can align with your faith… this video is a must-watch.
It felt like a prayer for people like us.
Entrepreneurs who want to grow, without compromising our integrity or sanity.
And hey, maybe this is your reminder today:You don’t need to hide your gifts or second-guess your mission.
You just need to share it from the right heart.
So take 5 minutes. Watch the video.
Let it speak to you like it did for me.
Because you’re not promoting yourself…
You’re promoting the solution someone else is praying for.
