✨ Sensing Into Your Body, Emotions, and Thoughts Before Connecting With Spirit

In this week's mediumship course the question arose: "Why don't we connect when we are grieving?" While there can be a vast number of reasons, the most important one is how you are feeling. It may be possible to connect with your loved ones while you are grieving. It is not advisable to connect with loved ones for others.

Regardless of who you are connecting for the most important aspect is still separating your emotions and thoughts from those of spirit. This is called discernment of spirit. Before opening for a reading, whether it be a mediumship reading, an oracle card reading, or a palm reading it is important to know what you are feeling, thinking, and holding in your energy field.

This simple practice allows you to do that.

Before you open to Spirit, take a moment to come home to yourself. Your body, your emotions, and your thoughts are the first layers of your intuitive landscape. If you don’t check in with them, it becomes easy to confuse your own inner noise with spiritual communication.

Start with your body. Notice where you feel open and where you feel tight. Your body will always tell you the truth. It shows you when you are centered and when you are carrying something that needs attention before you connect.

Then sense into your emotions. Are you calm, overwhelmed, excited, or tired? Emotions create waves in your field, and those waves can shape how you interpret energy. When you acknowledge what you’re feeling, you create space for clarity.

Finally, observe your thoughts. Are they quiet and spacious, or busy and looping? Thoughts can easily blend with intuitive impressions if you don’t recognize what is yours first.

This simple check-in is not a ritual. It is a return. When you know what is happening within you, you can recognize what is coming from beyond you. This is how your mediumship becomes clean, grounded, and trustworthy.

Take a breath. Feel your body. Name your emotions. Notice your thoughts. Then open the door to Spirit from a place of clarity.
