Alright nerds, I guess I'll start. Rn I'm not seeing $10 of value but if one of y'all can solve this problem, I'll give Charlie another month lol.
I started writing on Medium a couple years ago. I leaned very heavy into AI and was getting good traction. My whole strategy was Google seo and it was working.
I turned on monetization and things were working great for like a week until Medium changed their paywall method. Free users used to get up to 3 daily paid articles. Now it's zero. My Google bounce rate tanked and so did my viewership.
At this point, I was having fun with the process, so I decided to actually write what I cared about. AI was used for research or for improving readability, but I was doing the writing.
I was making pretty consistently $20+ a month on the low-end, and that's with a very small following (I'm still under 300 followers on Medium). My big mistake was not making an email list, but oh well. Live and learn, right?
Anyway, all that to say that I have the infrastructure setup now. I have a Gumroad for ebook leads. I have a substack created to double post my articles. I have a bunch of outlines and ideas written, but I can't for the life of me get myself to write.
I now have two kids, a full time job as a teacher, and a part time job with my church. I'm always exhausted and always tired.
I know what to do. I know even something like 10-15 minutes a day would be enough to get the ball rolling. I just can't bring myself to sit in front of my computer and write. I'm going through some family stuff so I know I have some kind of acute depression going on with all that, but still, the struggle with executive functioning is very frustrating.
Has anyone been in a similar situation before? How do I get out of this slump and get back writing? Any thoughts or tips?
