Thermal isn’t just “seeing heat.”
It’s understanding:
• Temperature differentials
• Environmental factors
• Reflective surfaces
• Wind direction
• Time of day impact
Most new thermal pilots make this mistake:
They assume the brightest object = the target.
Not always.
Metal roofs, rocks, pavement, and even wet ground can throw false readings.
🧠 Real-World Example:
In search operations:
- Early morning = best contrast
- Late afternoon = ground heat interference
- Wind changes everything
Thermal is a tool.
But interpretation is skill.
If you’re flying thermal (or thinking about it):

What thermal drone are you using?
Or
Are you considering upgrading to one?
I’ll share one tip specific to your setup.
