This is my community review of The Skool Classifieds by Shannon Boyer.
“I was a lurker… but this space helped me find my visibility again.”
When Shannon launched The Skool Classifieds, I didn’t know her personally. I joined because I was curious.
There was something missing on the platform… a real place to self promote without getting moderated into oblivion. In other communities, especially Skoolers, promotion gets shut down fast. Before Classifieds, there wasn’t a clean, intentional space where owners could simply say, “Here’s my group. Here’s what I do.”
So I joined as a lurker. A full on L-U-R-K-E-R.
I wanted to watch the experiment unfold. I wasn’t even fully ready with my own offers yet. I was still working inside other people’s communities. But I knew this concept filled a real gap.
What stood out immediately was Shannon’s leadership.
On the first call I joined, I was outspoken. Based on my experience with the platform, I shared concerns and things I thought needed to be addressed. Shannon didn’t get defensive. She didn’t get ego driven. She said, “Yeah, I never thought about it that way.” And she listened.
That told me everything.
Inside Classifieds, the culture is simple and refreshing. Promote your group. Talk about what you’re building. Share what’s happening. There’s no perfect format. No overcomplicated posting rules. The only real moderation is no dollar amounts and no off platform offers.
That’s it.
Her clarity around the purpose makes it safe. It’s a space built for visibility.
I ended up joining VIP as soon as she offered it because it was a no brainer. When she opened up annual pricing, I grabbed that too. I kept showing up to calls. I started welcoming new members because I wanted them to feel seen. And then she asked me to be a mod.
Since the beginning of the year, I’ve really dug in. Not from a place of “these are potential clients,” even though yes, they are. But from a place of peer to peer support. We all rise together. That’s the tone she sets.
Personally, the biggest shift has been visibility.
Seven years ago, something happened in my life that made visibility feel unsafe. Since then, I’ve struggled with fully showing up. Through workshops I’ve hosted inside Classifieds and through the calls where we practice sharing what we do, I got my teacher heart back.
That part of me that loves guiding. Teaching. Leading.
Practicing my 10 second and 30 second introductions on calls helped me refine how I talk about what I do. It gave me confidence that I am on the right track and that I serve the right people.
My identity shifted.
I already was an authority… I just wasn’t showing up like one. Now I do. I show up visible. Confident. A leader. Fully myself.
And that has changed everything.
If you’re joining, know this is a space to promote. That’s the point. If you’re waiting for perfection before posting, don’t. Just post. That’s what it’s there for.
