The "Ca-ching" Method: How to Never Lose Track of Your Income
Regardless of how you track your income, remember that when you operate in both the online and offline worlds, it’s easy to lose track of the money you make. If you lose track, you can’t nurture your growth or double down on what’s actually working.
Whether you use a budget sheet, a tracker, or resources from the club, here is the one tip I keep top of mind every time I receive a payment.
Whenever I see a deposit, I immediately think of the sound: "Ca-ching!"
You know the one, that classic sound an old-fashioned cash register makes. I’ve conditioned my mind to recognize that sound as a signal for action. (I’m hilariously thinking of Pavlov’s dog right now!)
My Workflow
🧠 Categorize: I mentally file the deposit into the right account. (Where is this supposed to go?)
📲Log it: If it’s a new category or a brand that has never paid me before, I quickly jot it down in my Notes app since I’m not always at a computer.
💻: On Fridays, our designated bookkeeping day, I update the income source on my budget sheet, money clarity dashboard, and earnings report.
Real-Life Example:
If I receive a $100 affiliate commission, it looks like this:
  • Action: Mentally Acknowledge it being in my "Business Catch-all" account where taxes and % are automated
  • Notes App: "Affiliate Commission - $100 (Brand Name)"
  • Bookkeeping: Category: Affiliate Commission ($100)
  • Clarity Dashboard: Affiliate Income ($100)
  • Earnings Report: Brand Name ($100)
The Payoff: Monetization Strategy
By tracking the money properly, I can now take the next steps to grow it:
  • Reach out to the brand to negotiate a higher commission.
  • Create more content to increase future earnings.
  • Launch a targeted ad strategy.
  • Email my members about the offer.
All of this is possible because I took the time to "remember" the money.
How do you track your income? Do you have any quirky habits or tips that help you stay on top of your earnings?
