The app Edits.. why are all my thumbnails black under projects. I have tried everything. Finally uninstalled and reinstalled and its doing the same thing. I have done everything AI has told me to do here: 1. Completely Clear App Cache (The Right Way)
Merely uninstalling the app leaves some residual files and user preferences behind. You must clear the app's cache or offload it entirely to force the system to rebuild the thumbnails. [1, 2, 3]
- On iPhone: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Tap on the Edits app and select Offload App. Wait a few seconds, then tap Reinstall App. [1, 2, 3]
- On Android: Go to Settings > Apps. Tap on Edits (or Instagram), then select Storage. Tap Clear Cache. (Note: Do NOT tap "Clear Data" as this will delete your local drafts). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
2. Export or Move a Test Project
If you can actually open the black thumbnails and see the clips on your timeline, the underlying project files are safe. Try making a minor duplicate edit on one project—such as adding a tiny adjustment or removing/re-adding the background audio —and re-exporting . This forces the app to re-render and generate new thumbnails. [1, 2, 3]
3. Ensure OS and App Compatibility
The app runs intensive hardware processes, especially if using 4K exports. Check the App Store or Google Play to verify you have the latest software updates downloaded. A patch may have been released to address video rendering problems on specific device models. [1, 2, 3]
Help.. I cant see which reel is which when i want to go back to an old project
