There are moments in life when time seems to stop—when the world's activity recedes, and something much more profound comes into focus. Sitting vigil with someone nearing the end of their life is one of those moments. It’s a sacred act of presence, a pause between worlds. To be truly present—really there—as another soul approaches the threshold of the great unknown is unlike any other human experience.
I just experienced this deeply while sitting with my father as he lay dying after a long battle with Alzheimer's. I am now working on a book inspired by this experience, and I will share some of what I am learning from my research. I truly value hearing about your experiences and insights.
