I was mapping Luke 5:4–6 today and this part wouldn’t leave me alone:
“We have toiled all night and caught nothing… nevertheless at Your word…”
They didn’t get new nets.
They didn’t move to a new location.
They didn’t suddenly become better fishermen.
Same boat.
Same water.
Same nets.
The only thing that changed…
was obedience.
And if I’m being honest, that’s the part that’s hard to sit with.
Because how many times do we say:
“I already tried that.”
What if the answer isn’t something new…
but going back to the same place
and doing it His way this time?
Not based on what worked before.
Not based on what makes sense.
Just… “nevertheless.”
I wrote this in my journal today:
“I don’t need new conditions…
I need obedience in the ones I’m already in.”
So now I’m sitting with this:
👉 Where have I already tried…
and decided it doesn’t work?
