If You Have to Control It… You Don’t Trust God With It.
The constant striving, overworking, overthinking, and trying to manage every detail of your life?
That’s not discipline.
That’s not ambition.
That’s not even excellence…
It’s a trust issue.
I know because I lived it.
There was a season where I was doing all the things: showing up at work, leading at home, building, serving… and still feeling anxious, exhausted, and low-key afraid that if I let go, even a little, everything would fall apart.
And the truth God revealed to me was simple, but sobering:
“You’re not operating in obedience… you’re operating in control.”
Because when we refuse to slow down…
When we won’t release the outcome…
When we feel like everything depends on our hands…
What we’re really saying is:
“God, I hear You… but I don’t fully trust You.”
Whew.
Obedience requires surrender.
And surrender will always feel uncomfortable to a woman who’s used to carrying everything.
But here’s the shift:
God never asked you to carry the weight. He asked you to follow His lead.
There is a difference between:
- Being responsible vs. being in control
- Taking action vs. forcing outcomes
- Moving in obedience vs. moving in fear
And if you’re honest…
Some of what you’ve been calling “hard work” is actually you trying to help God fulfill His promises.
Sis… He doesn’t need your help. He needs your yes.
Your obedience will take you further than your overexertion ever will.
✨ Reflection:
Where in your life are you gripping tightly instead of trusting fully?
