I think for me the this point, this wait has more emotional buildup than a slow-burn romance novel. Simply because of the writing. There’s a restraint in the sense where we are trusted as readers with our imagination. Your writing is so clean and effortless - no overdevelopment, no excessive descriptions. There are writers right now that use so many fillers, just unnecessary details and explanations that make each chapter feel redundant and the book 100 chapters long. I’m chomping at the bit for each chapter because you say just enough to make things land, the characters and emotions come through immediately. We feel a connection like we know these people and their lives, they are real to us. We are invested in what happens to them moving forward.
