About My Absence...
Hi, friends. 💛
I wanted to take a moment to explain why I've been so quiet over the past few months.
Many of you know me as an author, coach, or business strategist. Some of you have been with me since Love Kiss Books. Others know me from my blogging days, or landed here thanks to the algorithms.
What many of you may not know is that for the last fourteen years, everything in my life was built around one little girl.
My daughter, Kenna.
Kenna was born 16 weeks too soon and lived with complex medical needs throughout her life. Every business decision I made, every pivot, every late night, every new skill I learned was because I needed to create a life where I could stay home, care for her, and still provide for our family.
She wasn't just part of my story.
She was my why.
She's the reason I became an author and an entrepreneur.
She's the reason I learned marketing, built online businesses, published books, and eventually created communities like this one.
She inspired every dream I chased because everything I did had the same goal: giving Kenna the best life possible.
On June 2nd, Kenna unexpectedly passed away following a routine procedure.
There really aren't words big enough for that kind of loss.
Not only because I lost my daughter, but because she had quietly shaped almost every decision I'd made since the day she was born.
For a while, I stepped away.
I needed to say goodbye, and then begin asking myself a question I never imagined I'd have to answer:
-> How do I build a life when the person I built it for is no longer here?
I'm still figuring that out.
Some days are productive.
Some days grief wins.
Most days are a mix of both.
Regardless, the promises I made to this community still matter to me.
I'm still committed to helping women build businesses that create freedom, flexibility, and multiple income streams. I'll continue creating modules, sharing templates, recording trainings, and offering resources... perhaps a little more gently than before, but with the same heart behind them.
You'll also notice me documenting more of my rebuilding process in She Seeks Joy, my lifestyle newsletter.
When I started She Seeks Joy, it was a project documenting how Kenna and I were rebuilding our lives after leaving an unhealthy marriage. Now it's also the story of learning to rebuild after an even more profound loss.
This is where I'm writing honestly about grief, hope, healing, and also the concerted effort of starting over.
If that journey resonates with you, or if you're curious about what it looks like to rebuild a life and business one day at a time, I'd love to have you there.
I don't know exactly what this next season will look like, but I do know I don't plan on building it alone.
Expect more behind-the-scenes moments in here. Watch for posts where I drop a Zoom link and invite you to join me in writing sprints, co-working sessions, and real-time experiments as I build newsletters, affiliate income, digital products, and other projects. I hope you'll join me. Body doubling is a gift for my ADHD brain.
Thank you for your patience, kindness, and support as I claw my way back not as the woman I was before, but as the woman I'm becoming.
I'm grateful you're here.
