Devotional – “The Fragrance of Christ”
2 Corinthians 2:15
Scripture Focus:
“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.” – 2 Corinthians 2:15
Reflection:
Have you ever walked into a room and instantly noticed a beautiful scent—fresh flowers, baked bread, or clean air after rain? You didn’t have to see the source to know it was there. In the same way, our lives are meant to carry the “fragrance” of Christ wherever we go.
Paul reminds us that being a follower of Jesus is not only about what we say, but about what we carry into every situation—our attitudes, our kindness, our integrity, and our love. People may not always read the Bible, but they read our lives every day. The way we respond to stress, forgive others, speak truth, and show compassion releases a spiritual aroma that points others toward Christ.
This verse is also humbling. The fragrance is not our own goodness; it is Christ in us. Just as perfume must be applied to be noticed, we stay close to Jesus through prayer, Scripture, and obedience so His character naturally flows through us.
Some will welcome that fragrance, and some may reject it—but our calling is simply to carry it faithfully. We are not responsible for how others respond; we are responsible for walking closely enough with Christ that His presence is evident in us.
Prayer:
Lord, let my life carry Your fragrance today. In my words, actions, and thoughts, help others sense Your love and grace. Keep me close to You so that what flows from me reflects Your heart. Amen.
Today’s Thought:
You may be the only “Bible” someone encounters today. What kind of fragrance will your life leave behind?
