Went Well Wednesday - WWW - June 17 2026
Another week of setting things up really. This time YouTube. A couple of videos up and running.
4 new subscribers on Substack this week and I spent time creating connections and reading newsletters. I do love reading other people's point of view. 😃
8 new people joined the email list and I really hope the new videos help to improve that once I start promoting it more during this up coming week
I really need to start writing down or keeping a note of what I have been doing because I feel like I got a lot done but now as I sit and try to remember it all not much is coming to mind!
STILL BUILDING
Really, the week was spent on building rather than sales activity because I have these extra tokens from Claude and I shipped out some new features to my eCommerce builder. The Progressive Web App was one I really wanted.
Now I am going to add a way to track who is using it so I have the numbers there.
SALES WORK IS NEEDED...
I am really happy I am running this experiment because it is forcing me to focus on SALES rather than building or growth work all the time. I do love to build!
I have been thinking about building a basic dashboard that will help me measure all of that and get it up and working so I track correctly. SALES. GROWTH. BUILDING.
This week has not been a great week for focusing on SALES work though but I move forward from here.
I asked Claude - Google in AI Mode (I love this one) - and Gemini - for advice on more GROWTH/SALES activities and will put that all together in one document and follow it.
JUST DO IT...
The annoying thing is I already know what I need to do, I have been doing it for other people for years, but I am so stuck in building mode where I have been for the last 2 years that I am struggling to get out of it.
This is why I started this group and love this experiment. It will KICK me out of build mode for sure because I have to report back on what I am doing and my results.
Knowing I am reporting back gives me no option but to focus on sales.
I AM AN INDEPENDENT STORE OWNER - my reminder...!!
This is something I read through often to remind me. Being independent has its major plus advantages. One major hurdle for many is finding traffic / people / audience / buyers - but this has been my life for years so I know it will take extra.
I have worked freelance for over 20 years. Unlike an employee I have not had my work and my pay handed to me. I know what it takes to go out there and find work, deliver the work, chase to get paid for the work and find new work.
The cycle and the feast and famine used to be my world. Right now I am financially blessed enough to be 100% online all the time. I just need to make better use of my time.
I think I might shorten this and turn it into a visual aid. I do love a visual reminder ☺️
I am an independent store owner. And that word - independent - comes with the full truth attached. Nobody is sending me traffic. There is no algorithm working in my favour, no platform pushing my products to people already browsing, no built-in audience waiting to discover me. What I get, I go and get. Every visitor, every email subscriber, every sale - I earned that. Nobody handed it to me. Build it and they will come is a myth that keeps people broke. I build it, then I go and find them, bring them back, earn their trust, and then convert that trust into sales. That is the deal. It is more work than a marketplace. It is also more mine.
That word - independent - means something. It means no landlord, no platform rules, no suspension emails, no fee increases overnight and no bending to fit in with rule changes. But independence only works if I act like it. Go find your people.
See you next week 😁

Running an experiment: can building an audience be what makes digital products sell? Using eCommerce software I built myself & documenting as I go.
