Went Well Wednesday - WWW
Its the first 'Went Well Wednesday' and I am here to provide an update of what I have been up to this week. As the experiment started Monday there isn't much to report in terms of stats but I am happy with progress so far.
Inspirational Guidance
I updated the homepage and removed all products and blog posts. Now it is a landing page with one job - encourage registration. I also made a video.
As I have 174 DE-INDEXED articles and only 4 indexed articles right now 🤬I am working through updating the more important ones. The main thing I have to do is add a couple of "real life" stories to the articles and if I mentioned research cite my sources. I am just working on that by updating 2 or 3 articles a day.
The most important articles are the ones attached to my cluster pages. I mention cluster or hub pages in the classroom.
Here is a link to my PAUSE Method - because this is a method I created myself I have put more EEAT Clout onto it. So, I need to make sure all the blog posts attached to this hub are indexed again.
I have 6 of these cluster pages on the site. Some more important than others.
I found an ebook I wrote in 2013 and I am currently updating that, which I will also add as my own method for building self-confidence. This is what I used myself to help me. If you knew me when I was in my 20s you will know it worked 😂
So, that is how I am updating my site to ensure my site is seen as trustworthy to the search engine Gods and displays my expertise.
Of course I also gave the site the same EEAT boost I gave to Djangify (IG is a custom built site using Djangify) and added the back-end Schema stuff search engines and AI engines need to read the site.
SUBSTACK
Joined and set everything up on Monday. I have two new subscribers (not counting you wonderful people who followed me) that I didn't know before joining Substack.
I am going to focus all my attention on it for the next couple of weeks - maybe month. I really love it just for being around experts and writers with knowledge and something to say.
My website is set up. I created SECTIONS for 1000 true fans and IG which means people can subscribe to just those sections if they want to and nothing else.
YOUTUBE
I am leaving YouTube alone for a couple of weeks - maybe a month! Still working out what I want to say on there and the best way to say it. Do I go on as me? As Inspirational Guidance? I do want to add a video to my Djangify YouTube though. Just an intro to who I am and what I do.
PINTEREST
Still manually adding my Pins. I prefer it. I don't need to automate that task right now. Keeping to my one or two pins daily and will report on traffic from Pins after a month or so. Also spending time liking pins, adding new Pins to my folders and leaving comments. People who arrive from Pinterest are staying on my site for a long time, which is good news for me.
DJANGIFY
Claude is giving away extra time/tokens and a newer faster model right now, so last night as I sat down to log off at 9pm (which would have been early for me) I asked it a question that I thought I would work on this morning... By 3.30am I had created new templates/themes for Djangify.
So far it only works for the blog and shop. I am going to work on the homepage - or I may leave the homepage - not sure yet. The plan is...
"A version 2 of Djangify's ecommerce store builder that shifts from a pure product-catalog model toward a content-first, publication-style model approach where creators build an audience through content, then monetize it, rather than just listing products in a shop."
Can you guess what inspired me 😁 but don't get too excited if you have a Djangify store.
I am not sure yet about the "monetize an audience through content" yet. What I do know is that it gives the site more of a "hub" feel and people who create content regularly will be more loved by the search engines and hopefully blessed with buyers.
We have something called "Bites" for shorts and shorter text style updates
And the content is placed under headings on the blog page like video, podcast, bites.
At the beginning you can only add links to your existing content on say youtube or Soundcloud or somewhere else. I may introduce upload for audio but I will not introduce upload for video unless people want to start paying $39 a month - then I can. Or someone invests $50 million in Djangify ☺️
The images below show my developer site with demo content that Claude added for me.
That's all for WWW today. Please feel free to start a new post or comment below with any WINS you have this Wednesday. Big or small.
Thank you, for being here with me. This experiment without your input/encouragement will have felt quite empty.
REMEMBER: When you build your business it should be on "land you own" and not rent!!!
