What’s one cold call opener you’ve tested that actually worked?

Cold calls are a game of first impressions—and those first 5-10 seconds can make or break the call.

I’ve tested tons of openers, from permission-based to pattern interrupts, but the one that’s worked best for me is surprisingly simple:

👉 “Hey [Name], it’s Daniel. How’s it going?”

No permission. No overthinking. Just straight confidence & authority.

Here’s why this works:

✅ It sounds natural – like you already know them (no robotic scripts)

✅ It catches them off guard (in a good way) – they’re expecting a sales pitch, not a casual check-in

✅ It establishes authority – you’re not “asking for permission,” you’re leading the conversation

From there, I quickly get into why I’m calling, mention other companies in their space we work with, and make it immediately relevant to them.

But I’m always testing new approaches to see what resonates best.
