Class takeaways
Having a savings account is one thing, but the type of savings account makes the difference in you benefiting from your savings or the bank benefiting. Ask for a high yielding savings account and you will see some growth in the account.
Also, with anything worthwhile, it takes discipline. Don't touch the money! Let it grow. If need be, open at least two savings account...1 for emergency access and 1 for strictly saving.
