Jennifer and I set up our shared drive and have everything under a folder called "foundational brain." This folder contains sub-folders for avatars, brand voice, and other documents to keep it organized. Does this present an issue? See below:
So claude has to use a "Google Drive Connector" to be able to see the files within files which i think takes extra thinking power. I'm wondering if it might not have access to all of our files unless we tell claude in each prompt to go in and look within those extra files. Is it using up extra thinking power? This is my claude conversation:
Me: you have access to our foundation brain file. you should have access to some avatars and a brand voice text document. can you confirm that you can find those within the folders of the foundation brain. let me know of any other documents you have access to. keep it brief.
Claude responded: The Foundation Brain folder is currently empty — I don't see any avatars or brand voice document in there yet.
It sounds like the avatar and brand voice files may not have been added yet, or they might be saved somewhere else. Want me to help you locate them or get them into the Foundation Brain?
Me: so those files are found in folders within the foundation brain folder. do you not have access to those?
Claude responded: Good catch — let me look more carefully using the Google Drive connector.
Loaded tools, read a file, used Google Drive integration
Yes! I can confirm I have access through your Google Drive connection. Here's what I found in the Foundation Brain:
Guest Avatars folder:
- Molly the Mother Hen — Perfect Guest Avatar
- Zillennial Zoey — Avatar Profile (secondary avatar)
Brand Voice:
- CottageStays Brand Voice (Google Doc)
- C#100 CottageStays Brand Voice Knowledge Document
- C#100 AI Communication Guide (.docx)
The local folder mount shows as empty because those files live in Google Drive subfolders rather than being synced locally — but I can read them all through the Google Drive connector, so they're fully accessible to me when we're working together.
