I love jokes šŸ¤£šŸ˜…
ā€œI had a joke about my project… but I didn’t want to project it too early.ā€
And yes… there’s a real pronunciation lesson inside it.
In English, project changes pronunciation depending on whether it’s a noun or a verb:
project (noun) = /ˈprɒdŹ’ekt/Example: I’m working on a new project.
project (verb) = /prÉ™ĖˆdŹ’ekt/Example: You need to project your voice.
So the spelling stays the same, but the stress changes.
That’s one of the reasons pronunciation matters so much: sometimes it’s not the letters that change… it’s the stress, and that changes the whole word.
A lot of learners focus only on spelling, but English is full of words like this.
