The Teaching the Sphinx Has Been Guarding
The Sphinx faces east. Every morning for thousands of years, possibly tens of thousands, it has watched the sun rise.
Mainstream archaeology dates its construction to around 2500 BC. But geologist Robert Schoch of Boston University published peer-reviewed research demonstrating that the vertical weathering patterns on the walls of the Sphinx enclosure are consistent with prolonged rainfall erosion. The last time that region received that level of rainfall was before 7000 BC at the earliest. Schwaller de Lubicz was the first modern scholar to draw attention to this. John Anthony West brought it to a wider audience. Robert Schoch provided the geological credentials.
The esoteric tradition places the Sphinx at the dawn of the Age of Leo, approximately 11,500 years ago. On that date, the Sphinx's eastward gaze would have met the constellation of Leo rising on the horizon at the spring equinox. The lion looking at the lion.
Whatever date you accept, the monument is older than the civilisation that inherited it.
The builders of the later pyramids at Saqqara and Meidum were attempting to replicate something they could see but no longer fully understood. The quality of construction degrades progressively. The stones get smaller. The precision drops. Those structures have not survived intact. Whoever built the Giza complex possessed knowledge that was already ancient by the time the dynastic Egyptians arrived.
The Sphinx is a monument to a teaching. The human face above the lion's body encodes the central principle of every genuine mystery school. The animal nature is your foundation. The work is integration.
Manly P. Hall called the Sphinx the armed guardian of the Mysteries, placed between man and his divine possibilities.
You are the man standing at the threshold.
Drop a comment below. What is your personal instinct on the age of the Sphinx? And what does the teaching of integration mean to you in your own life right now?
How old do you believe the Sphinx actually is?
Around 2,500 BC (mainstream archaeology)
Before 7,000 BC (Schoch's water erosion evidence)
11,500 years ago (Age of Leo / esoteric tradition)
Older than all of these
