When you’re sleep-deprived, your body produces more ghrelin (the hunger hormone) and less leptin (the hormone that signals fullness). Basically, your brain starts sending constant hunger signals.
On top of that, cortisol (your stress hormone) rises, which encourages fat storage, particularly around the midsection which can get worse the more this happens.
You can eat perfectly and train hard all week but if you’re consistently running on 5 hours of sleep, you’re fighting an uphill battle.
Protect your sleep like you protect your workouts.
