What is growth rap?

I’m in my studio chair, just off the phone with my bandmate.

He’s ending our band.

I ask myself, “Do I continue to rap?”

A hook tugs on my gut, dragging me back to high school when I told my dad I was quitting basketball, letting a dream die. Now, my rap dream might die too.

I grab my old journal.

Page after page, my heartbroken teenage angst turns into rap verses. I realize rapping is how I process, learn, and grow. The career might end, but I can rap for personal growth as long as I'm alive.

This is Growth Rap.
