Recovery Without Explaining — Welcome 🤍
Hi, I’m Cynthia (most people call me Cindy), and I’m really glad you’re here.
I created Recovery Without Explaining because I know how exhausting it can be to feel like you have to explain your story, your pain, or your recovery just to belong somewhere. Here, you don’t have to do that.
I’m in recovery myself, with a clean date of January 25, 2019, and I’m on medically assisted treatment. Recovery, mental health, and learning how to live gently are a big part of my life. I’m not an expert or a professional — just someone who’s still showing up, still learning, and still choosing to keep going.
I live with my partner of 12 years, Brenda, and we have a blended family and a whole lot of cats (and stray cats we help care for). Life isn’t perfect, but it’s real — and that’s the kind of space I want this to be.
This community is meant to be:
  • Safe
  • Non-judgmental
  • Pressure-free
  • Respectful of all recovery paths
You’re welcome to share your story — or not. You can participate quietly. You can come and go. You can just breathe here.
If you’d like, feel free to introduce yourself in whatever way feels safe:
  • Where you’re from (or just the region)
  • What brought you here
  • Or simply say “hi”
I’m really honored you chose to be here 🤍— Cindy
