Massage: It's Maintenance, Not a Reward
Most guys treat massage like a birthday present. The research treats it like a tool.
Reviews covering dozens of trials show massage cuts muscle soreness at 24, 48, and 72 hours after hard training. It lowers creatine kinase — the blood marker that shows muscle damage. And strength comes back faster: measurable gains in force compared to doing nothing at all.
You don't build muscle after 40 during the workout. You build it while you recover. If you're doing serious strength training, or you're deep in injury recovery, massage is one of the few recovery tools with real evidence behind it.
Side effects in the studies? Rare and mild. Low risk, high return. Fitness over 40 runs on the boring stuff done on schedule.
Question for the room: when was the last time you were on the table for a legit massage?
Recover the Strength!
