Jouer vs Faire — Sports and Activities
Salut! Today you're learning which verb to use when talking about sports and activities — and there's a simple pattern that makes it easy! Video below Jouer à — for ball sports, competitive games and team sports jouer au tennis jouer au hockey jouer au soccer jouer aux échecs Faire de — for physical activities, disciplines and practices faire du ski faire du karaté faire de la danse faire de la natation The simple rule: if it involves a ball, a team, or a board game, it's usually jouer à. If it's a physical discipline or practice, it's usually faire de. When in doubt, faire de is the safer choice!

L'Imparfait — Regular -ER Verbs
The formula: take the nous form at present tense, drop -ons, and add these endings je -ais tu -ais il / elle / on -ait nous -ions vous -iez ils / elles -aient Example with parler — nous parlons → base : parl- Je parlais — I was speaking / I used to speak Tu parlais — You were speaking Il / Elle / On parlait — He / She / We was speaking Nous parlions — We were speaking Vous parliez — You were speaking Ils / Elles parlaient — They were speaking Example with Manger – nous mangeons → base : mange- Je mangeais Tu mangeais Il mangeait Nous mangions *Special trap ! We don't keep the E for nous and vous :O Vous mangiez Ils mangeaient The same pattern works for all regular -er verbs — manger, travailler, regarder, jouer, and hundreds more. Learn this once and you've got the imparfait for the majority of French verbs! Can you make a few sentences using today's words? Write them in the comments below!
