I was just responding to a member question and it just popped in my head that most of you guys might not know about the caregiver buyout clause.
It’s when your client contracts your caregiver privately (they do this to save money). I had no idea about it-luckily I had a really amazing client that told me to put that clause in my contract-I mean he then bought my caregiver out of her contract but at least he was ethical 😅
My original buyout was $15,000, I’ve since upped it to $45,000 because clients were buying my caregivers!!! I much rather keep them honestly. You lose a lot more than that one client when you lose a good caregiver. And yes, $45k seems like a nice payout but trust me when I say a good caregiver will be 2X that in a year’s time if you keep them in your company. I’ve had caregivers who paid for their own salaries within 2 months of hiring them with the quality of care and experience they had-extending hours with clients, bringing other good caregivers, spreading our reputation. The investment and potential of amazing caregivers is massive.
