💎 How to Copyright Your Songs (Step-by-Step with Screenshots)

A lot of you are asking about copyright registration. Here’s the FULL walkthrough.

STEP 1: Go to Copyright.gov

STEP 2: Click “Register a Work”

STEP 3: Select “Sound Recording” (if you have audio) OR “Musical Work” (if just lyrics/melody)

STEP 4: Fill out the form (song title, author name, year written)

STEP 5:Upload your audio file or lead sheet

STEP 6: Pay $65 (one-time fee)

STEP 7: Wait 3-6 months for confirmation

Pro tip: You can copyright multiple songs in a “collection” for one $65-85 fee if they’re all unpublished.
