To choose life is to love the Lord your god, obey him, and stay close to him. He is your life, and he will let you live many years in the land, the land he promised to give your ancestors abraham, isaac, and jacob. Deuteronomy 30:20 NCV
When we look at how the choices of living life to its fullest is described in this passage, how do your choices line up? When we choose to love the lord, surrendering our hearts and lives fully to him, we offer him first place above everything else. His word is the final word, and it is full of wisdom to guide us. When we choose to obey him, knowing that his ways are always full of his loving intent, we demonstrate Trust in his unfailing character.
When we choose to stay close to the Lord this is done in relationship. When we spend time with him, when we worship Him, when we flag and dance, when we pray in the spirit and when we just sit in his presence and behold him. We demonstrate how much we really love him, and when we do this we learn really how much he loves us. And we learn who he is and what his character is really about and it makes us want to respond to him. This is an active knowing, not taking his presence for granted. We can choose in any moment to move closer towards him. He is always open-hearted towards us when we humble our hearts before him. He is our life source, and we can trust him to lead us into his goodness.
Gracious lord, Abba Father, we choose to cultivate your life in mine. Abba Father we yield our hearts to you; we open our hearts and our hands in surrender. Teach us, guide us into your presence as we flag and worship you and spend time with you. We long to stay close to you, living by the rhythm of your heartbeat. Teach us how to dance and flag to the rhythm of your heartbeat. Amen
