My Best Friend Needs A Lung Transplant

I am here humbly asking for help for my best friend. She is in need of a double lung transplant, and the University of Iowa is requiring her to come up with at least $3000 in savings before December 7 in order to be placed on the transplant list. The money is for her required after-transplant care… the part insurance doesn’t cover, like staying in a hotel near the hospital for weeks after the surgery. She has gone through months of appointments and evaluations, and they just dropped this requirement on her this week. With her reduced ability to work as much as she used to, and the holidays right around the corner, that’s a very difficult ask. She’s actually in need of more than that when the surgery comes, but $3000 is their requirement right now. Without coming up with that amount, they will drop her from the program, and she won’t be eligible for the transplant she so desperately needs.
