The Prepared Life Squad Community Guidelines
Welcome to our amazing preparedness community! These guidelines help us maintain the positive, supportive, and lighthearted space that makes The Prepared Life Squad so special. We're here to learn, grow, and build resilience together—without the drama or doom-and-gloom that can sometimes creep into preparedness discussions.
🌟 Our Community Standards
1. Share Your Real Experience
This is a space for authentic stories and personal perspectives about your preparedness journey. When discussing topics, speak from your own experience ("I tried this and...", "When I lost power for three days...", "My biggest prep mistake was..."). This keeps our conversations grounded, relatable, and genuinely helpful. We want to hear about your wins, your "oops" moments, and everything in between!
2. Respect and Listen (We're All Learning)
Our Squad includes everyone from complete beginners to seasoned preparedness pros, and that diversity makes us stronger! You don't have to agree with every approach or opinion, but you do need to listen respectfully. No name-calling, personal attacks, or dismissive comments like "that's stupid" or "you're doing it wrong." Challenge ideas constructively ("Have you considered..." or "My experience was different because..."), not the person sharing them.
3. No Hate Speech, Bullying, or Fear-Mongering
Making others feel unsafe, unwelcome, or terrified is absolutely not tolerated. This includes any comments that are racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise discriminatory. It also includes extreme doom-and-gloom scenarios designed to scare rather than prepare. We're about building confidence and resilience, not spreading fear. Bullying and harassment will result in immediate removal from the Squad.
4. Stay Focused on Practical Preparedness (Not Politics)
We discuss real-world challenges that affect our daily lives and preparedness needs, but this is not a political debate forum. We know that many preparedness topics touch on policy issues, but please focus on the practical, personal impact rather than debating political parties or policies. Instead of "The government is terrible because...", try "Here's how I'm preparing for supply chain issues..." Our moderators will gently guide conversations back to practical preparedness if they become overly political.
5. No Spam, Sales Pitches, or Affiliate Marketing
This is a community for genuine connection and learning, not a marketplace. Please don't post spam, affiliate links, or unsolicited promotions for products or services. Sharing a helpful resource you genuinely love is great ("I found this water filter really helpful..."), but turning every post into a sales opportunity is not. If you're unsure whether something counts as promotion, ask yourself: "Am I sharing this because it genuinely helped me, or because I want to make money?"
🛡️ How We Keep Our Squad Safe and Supportive
Our Moderation Approach
Our moderation team (led by Sharon/Vintage Prepper) works to ensure these guidelines are followed while maintaining the positive, encouraging atmosphere that makes our Squad special. We believe in gentle guidance first, but we won't hesitate to protect our community when needed.
If You See Something, Say Something
If you see a post or comment that violates these guidelines, please report it to our moderators. Don't engage in arguments or try to moderate yourself—let our team handle it so you can focus on the good stuff!
Consequences
  • First time: Friendly reminder and guidance back on track
  • Repeated issues: Private conversation with moderators
  • Serious violations or continued problems: Removal from the Squad to protect our community's integrity
💜 What Makes Our Squad Special
We Celebrate All Levels
Whether you just stored your first gallon of water or you're teaching others advanced skills, every step forward deserves celebration. No prep-shaming, no gatekeeping, no "you're not a real prepper unless..." attitudes.
We Keep It Real (and Realistic)
We focus on practical, achievable preparedness that fits real life and real budgets. No judgment if you live in an apartment, have a tight budget, or can't do everything "perfectly."
We Support Each Other
This community succeeds when we lift each other up. Share your wins, learn from your mistakes, and help others along their journey. We're stronger together!
We Have Fun
Preparedness doesn't have to be scary or stressful. We embrace the lighter side, celebrate creative solutions, and remember that building resilience can actually be enjoyable.
🤝 Thank You for Being Part of Our Squad
By following these guidelines, you're helping us maintain a space where everyone—from the newest beginner to the most experienced prepper—feels comfortable sharing, learning, and growing. Together, we're building not just individual preparedness, but a community of resilient, supportive people who've got each other's backs.
Let's make preparedness practical, positive, and even a little fun!
With gratitude,
Sharon/Vintage Prepper and The Prepared Life Squad Moderation Team 💜
