Q4 is here — do you know what you can actually write off? 💸
We are officially in Q4. Three months left in 2026.
And this is the time to pay attention to your expenses because every legitimate deduction you miss between now and December 31st is money you are handing back to the IRS for free.
So let me ask you — do you actually know what is deductible and what is not?
Here is a quick breakdown of what most online business owners can write off —
✅ Home office — if you have a dedicated space used regularly and exclusively for business
✅ Phone and internet — the business use portion
✅ Software and subscriptions — Canva, Zoom, email platforms, scheduling tools, project management
✅ Education and courses — anything that improves skills for your current business
✅ Marketing and advertising — paid ads, graphics, branding
✅ Contractor and VA payments — anyone you pay to help run your business
✅ Equipment — computers, cameras, microphones used for business
✅ Business meals — 50% deductible when there is a clear business purpose
And here is the rule behind all of it — the IRS says a business expense must be ORDINARY and NECESSARY. Common in your industry and helpful for running your business.
But here is the catch —
You have to be able to PROVE it. A receipt. A bank statement. Something that shows it happened.
The IRS does not care what you meant to track. They care what you can document.
So for the next three months — track every business expense. Save every receipt. Label everything as you go.
January you will thank yourself. 🔥
