I did the live demo!!
I’m waiting on more pictures from my partner, but I’d like to share this little video my son took as soon as I was set up.
I took aprons and buckets and towels and a bunch of clay and did live demos at this fun event at a cool hotel in Tucson. I also let people sit down and give it a try! I had posted a while ago asking if that was a crazy idea, but it was not too crazy at all!
I had a table off to the side, and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to be dealing with cash so I put it all up as “pay what you can” and the honor system. Honestly, I just wanted to clear off my shelves and I was happy for folks to grab something they loved at a price that felt right to them.
It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time! People had such a great time, and a hip group of younger artists all had a try and all said it was like meditation, therapy, one young woman even said that she felt so energized, like if she had gone to yoga!
I made about $170 from tips and pay-what-you-can in the 3 hours I was there. That is really good for me because when I’ve done markets, I’ve made much, much less.
If I could do this more often, I would! I enjoyed it thoroughly. And I did get a bunch of people ask if I teach classes. Even though that wasn’t even my goal to get new students, I feel like this live demo thing would be a great way to do that!
