AIN'T NO SUCH THING AS A DAMN BOOTCAMP FOR CYBERSECURITY!
I’m saying this as someone with 20 years in networking, cybersecurity, and IT.

These programs are optimized for revenue, not outcomes. They’ll pitch you on 8 months of coursework followed by 6 months of “career advising,” but that’s 14 months of your life without real proof of your skills.
Here’s what they won’t tell you:
While you’re sitting through lectures, the market is moving. you’re paying $17,000 to be a spectator while others are on the field.
And when you finally hit the job market, you’re competing with thousands of other grads with the same certs, the same bootcamp bullet points, and the same lack of tangible proof.
Most companies receive 100 to 500 applications for every role. Of those:
- 20% make it past the resume screen
- 20% of those make it to phone screens
- 20% of those make it to technical interviews
- 20% of those get final interviews
The vast majority never break through because they lack real-world experience and direct connections. They’re hoping a hiring manager takes a chance on their certificate, but hope is not a strategy.

- Build real-world projects, SOC tickets, firewall configs, vulnerability reports
- Leverage your network, don’t just collect LinkedIn contacts, build real connections
- Use recruiters who trust you
