Something I came across a few years ago that still resonates with me. The only meaning that events and situations have is the meaning we give them. Throughout my life, I have redefined what success looks like, what beauty means, and my worth in life. Many of our initial ideas and responses in life come from our upbringing and conditioning when we were kids. This is not all bad - and not all good (usually). My point is, we get to decide what that job loss or chronic illness means in the large scheme of things. From a distance, it may feel like the world as we know it is ending. While that may be partially true, it can ALSO mean that this gives space for new opportunities and ways of doing things. It is all about perspective. Something to ponder about when you are in the middle of that"horrible" thing. You may find that eventually it is one of the best things that happened to you - if you let it.
