Back in 2017, I was fortunate enough to convince an investor to help me buy my dream farm of over 200 acres. It felt like hitting the lottery. However, despite my passion for permaculture and the hard work I put in, the journey was filled with unexpected challenges. After five years of striving to lead a permaculture project, I faced significant obstacles. My investors wanted a different path, leading to some tough decisions, like leaving the farm and starting anew.
But life took an unexpected turn. I found myself selling insurance in Maine, a far cry from the farm life I envisioned. Yet, I persevered, eventually thriving in real estate and returning to Colorado to buy a new farm in Paonia, one that perfectly suited my dreams. This farm has springs, trees by the house, and all the essentials that were missing from the previous one.
My journey has taught me that resilience and adaptability are key. No matter how tough the circumstances, there’s always a chance for a fresh start and success.
For anyone facing difficulties, remember that things can turn around when you least expect it. Keep the faith, and stay open to new possibilities.
