Winter Bathroom Woes
Hey everyone! would love some suggestions on what to do with our Cavoodle Sadie. She is such a well behaved girl. She potty trained early, and uses the cat flap with confidence. We have had her for just going on 2 years now. We have wood floors throughout the house and this winter we decided to buy a plush fluffy rug for by the dining area to keep us warm during dinner time. Well Sadie has decided it's her new bathroom, and this has never happened before. Only since we got the carpet. The issue is, she is using it as her pee spot at night time only. During the day, she still goes outside. we take her out for a pee break just before bed at 9pm, and reward her for using the bathroom outside. we also take her out first thing in the morning with the same reward. She knows the command "go wees" pretty well now. and responds to it during the day too.
The question is 2 fold. How do i get rid of the pee smell without damaging the carpet (its black), and also how do i stop her from using the carpet as her bathroom. Its super frustrating as I never catch her in the act, its only when standing in a wet spot that we discover she has done it again.
